Duck, duck, goose

Walking the 32 miles between Stanley and Berthold, North Dakota today.
Ponds everywhere. It’s pothole terrain similar to the Ninepipe area near my hometown Ronan, Montana.
And ducks. Lots of ducks. Thousands of ducks.
Mallards, pintails, blue-winged teals, canvasbacks, redheads and shovelers.
Then I see one single goose coming up off a lake, by himself…the mate must be nearby sitting on eggs.
He looks really big to me. There is a species of goose — the Giant Canada — common to Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Maybe he got lost in North Dakota.
Or maybe I just saw so many ducks today, that a goose looked enormous.
