Fair winds and farewell to seas

Camping out in a wheat field beside some blue spruce trees, the only ones for miles, I am thinking about how far I’ve walked away from the ocean in just eight days. Today started out in the snow. I walked 22 miles and ended about 14 miles west of Coulee Falls. The wind was blowing hard today, and I had to roll up the large flags because the wind was pulling me like a sailboat!
One person stopped to tell me he appreciated what I was doing because he had lost friends in Iraq and Iran.
The previous night, Dirk, a firefighter out of Everett, met me at my daily destination and loaded up my cart and took me to a home where there were all sorts of people and a large buffet of homemade food. I also got a good night’s sleep, and then they drove me up to my starting point today.
Thank you too to the Ecks on Friday night for another evening of hospitality. I enjoyed your family and appreciate your woodworking expertise and help in getting my Air Force flag secured and flying again!
If you are wondering where all the good people have gone, they haven’t gone anywhere. Just take a walk with me and you meet them all along the way.
